Each slot of the 7750 SR chassis supports one IOM board. Each IOM board can insert 2 MDA cards. IOM: Input-Output Module, each Input/Output Module (IOM) can have 2 hot-swap MDAs. Each MDA provides 1 or more physical interfaces, such as Ethernet or SONET/SDH interfaces. The MDA passes incoming packets to the flexible fastpath multiplexer for processing. On egress, the MDA processes packets from the flexible fastpath complex and sends them in the correct format to the appropriate physical interface.
